Beta Reading

$35.00

Beta reading is a crucial step in the publication process. You need to know what readers think of your book before you publish the book yourself or send it to any potential publishers. Beta readers can help you uncover inconsistencies you’ve missed, let you know their true feelings about your characters, and so much more. To give your book the best chance possible, you’ll want to hire a professional beta reader (like me!) to address:

  • Plot holes

  • Character development

  • Timeline

  • Genre matching

  • Inconsistencies

  • Specific areas you’re worried about

I’ve beta read over 30 titles just in the last few months and it was my job for over six years to evaluate manuscripts for the publication company I worked for. My expertise lies in young adult fiction (all genres) and adult romance. If you have a book that falls into either of those categories, I’d love to work with you!

You will receive:

  • A PDF editorial analysis of your work including what’s working in the book and what needs some improvement

  • Comments throughout the manuscript in track changes

  • If you have a beta reading questionnaire, worksheet, or any additional resources you’d like me to fill out, I am more than happy to do that as well.

My turnaround time is one week for books under 50,000 words and two weeks for 50,000 to 150,000 words. If you have a book that is longer than 150,000 words, please email me at hello@thereadingchamber.com.

Once booked, please email your manuscript as an attached Word document or a Google Doc link. Your copyright is of course protected, but I am more than happy to sign an NDA if you prefer. I will reply via email and get started on your beta reading right away!
