Something New I Learned

One of the things they don’t tell you when you start your own business is that you have to be a content creator to gain traction. Most of my day is now spent filming videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels, scheduling Facebook posts, and trying to figure out algorithms to reach the targeted audience. I of course expected to work on marketing and that it would take up a lot of my time, but I didn’t expect to be glued to my phone.

I love parts of running this bookstore like packing orders, engaging with authors whose books I feature, and choosing titles I think readers will enjoy. But there are days where all I’m doing are things that are not so fun, and that’s okay! That’s part of running your own business and I’m learning as I go. I’ve had some wonderful suggestions from friends in the social media world, I’ve taken a masterclass and I’m currently working on an SEO certificate.

My goal is not to go “viral,” but to reach the right audience that LOVES YA books as much as I do. I know they’re out there! If finding that audience means I need to content create, then here we go!

Check out the media page to see some recent hits and of course follow me along on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook!
